About The Artist
Jackie Ewers
Born in Blenheim, I am a descendant of the early European settlers to the region. Most of my growing years were in Wellington, returning regularly to visit grandparents. Upon leaving school, I moved back to Blenheim where I worked for several years until I met my husband. His employment meant a move to New Plymouth.
After a few years, we moved to Nelson where we have lived for the past 24 years.
I am a self-taught full-time artist. I have been experimenting over the years with different styles, developing my art to become more unique. I like to work with acrylic paints and incorporate pieces of vintage paper and patterns. I draw a lot of my inspiration from my childhood memories, in hope that I will preserve them for the future.
