My Grandfather never went anywhere without his trusty smoking pipe.  He and my Grandmother lived in Marlborough where Magpies are a common sight.  The distinctive song “quardle oodle ardle wardle doodle” of the magpie reminds me of summer days visiting my grandparents.  My Pipe dreams series is part of my journey down memory lane.  ‘Fancy, a magpie’ title is a bit of a play on words. Is the magpie looking Fancy? Or do you fancy magpies?
